How It Works

  • Can an existing swing gate be automated without replacing it?

    Often yes. The gate, hinges, and posts need to pass a suitability check first. If the gate moves freely and the posts are solid, an opener kit can usually be fitted without replacing the gate itself.

  • What is checked before a swing gate motor is fitted?

    The installer checks gate alignment, hinge wear, post rigidity, and the available opening arc. The motor and controller are then specified to match the gate’s weight and leaf width, confirmed from those measurements.

  • What happens if the gate is automated without fixing a hinge fault first?

    A worn or loose hinge transfers load to the motor arm on every cycle. The gate drifts out of alignment, sensors misread the position, and the motor’s overload protection trips repeatedly. Early motor failure is the usual result.

  • Does the wiring need to meet any electrical standard?

    Yes. Power supply and controller wiring must comply with BS 7671 18th Edition under the Electricity at Work Regulations. All wiring on installations we arrange is completed to that standard.

  • Is a DIY swing gate opener kit a practical option?

    A kit can work on a straightforward, lightweight gate in good condition. If the gate is heavy, uneven, or has worn hinges, incorrect arm geometry or a missed fault makes the system unreliable within months.

  • Can access control be added at the same time as the motor?

    Yes. Keypad, remote, or app-based access control is wired to the gate controller as part of the same installation, so there is no need for a second visit or separate contractor.
